I was looking for a new header, browsing Sam Keith's art, and came across this image. I thought this would be a cool and epic battle, but why would it happen? Is it something like Marvel versus DC's other-wordly powerful beings pitting their universe's champions against each other? That would have been my immediate guess... The 'official' reason is listed below and you can probably assume the 'setting' just from reading the title. Yet - I still would rather give way to further speculation:

I know that Maxx was a 'Bum' and struggled with homelessness. So maybe he finds himself homeless in Gotham city? Then, he is executing vigilante justice on some criminals... This catches the attention of the town's other vigilante [rich and equipped not homeless like Maxx]. Yet - out of the shadows the caped crusader comes to execute vengence...

For more acurate information, you can check out the article by comic book review. And/or, just buy the graphic novel crossover (comic).

I guess I could have read and should have posted the blurb [summary] that now appears on the next column [obtained from Amazon].

That would have been more ideal than coming up with my own alternate storylines and making assumptions.

The irony here for me is that I wanted Sam Keith and Batman art... and bam, pow, splat - here they are together.

Or, is the true irony that this site was once dedicated to 'them' both? This site actually began with the title "Grunge and Batman." You are right to assume what I thought was cool in the 90's. However, it transitioned to a Sam Kieth fan site at some point. I think it was a pretty quick change but it might have been over a few years.

From the item description of the graphic novel: The Dark Knight faces the strangest and most bizarre adventure of his career, as he meets comics' strangest and most bizarre hero, The Maxx!

A devious new doctor at Arkham Asylum is conducting unconventional experiments into the human psyche, and he kicks off a chain reaction of disaster when he experiments on Arkham's newest patient, The Maxx! The city of Gotham is starting to merge with The Maxx's psychedelic mental landscape, known as the Outback, blurring the line between real and unreal. It's up to Batman to save not just Gotham, but all of reality, and he and The Maxx are going to have to travel through some of the darkest places imaginable--the twisted minds of Batman's greatest enemies!

Join Batman and The Maxx on an off-kilter and unforgettable romp through the diabolical consciousnesses of Batman's greatest foes, including Harley Quinn, the Penguin, Killer Croc, and, of course, the Joker. Legendary artist Sam Kieth (The Sandman, Wolverine) returns to his greatest creation, The Maxx, after two decades, and to Gotham City as well.

The refrence above is to a collection of the complete five-issue series and not just one episode as pictured in my header. In case you did not know, this is the function of grpahic novels in general. In other words, these compendiums serve as complete collections of series, volumes, or stories, taken from a multi-part-comic work.

However, featuring both characters in a picture together might draw attention from both parties. Consider this a formal review of Batman versus the Maxx. Actually, scratch that - click on the cropped photo to see the full image. As you can see, this is a picture of a comic book that I am planning on buying and reviewing soon... Seems like I am approaching good legal footing, aye? As a reminder, the column under the picture is from a more relable soucre than the page you are reading now. So, with all that having been stated - I now recommend that you visit Sam's official blog. The art depicted on this page is not mine. Various copyrights belong to: DC Comics and Sam Keith. In no way do I claim affiliation nor do I seek remuneration in the form of increased "clicks." To the artists be their due!

That being said, to the best of my knowledge, in the case of DC and Sam Keith, and hopefully it is not that... I set forth to give a genune review of these particualr pieces of art. I do plan on buying this item [the comic book] and the picture of the cover is mere documtation and a reminder of this goal. I have requested readers of my blog to buy this piece [of literature]. I have directed them to an oline store where they can do just that and to the blog of the man who created the art. This site has 'always' featured the work of Sam Keith. I have found his art to be - cool... And, as I pour more and more of myself into 'fixing' this site... I feel more and more connected with my former self... the one that 'created' the original site.

Not only that - this page is starting to look more and more like the original t4c that I sought to 'replace' - I mean - append...
